2011 Golden Globe Jewellery
by
jacksmithTo no-one’s surprise, diamond and platinum jewellery was the big news at the 2011 Golden Globes. Guests were simply dripping in these exquisite gems, with Helen Mirren stealing the show with $1.7 million dollars of Cartier diamonds displayed around her neck and suspended from her ears. The necklace alone had a total weight of 55.08 carats.
Anne Hathaway, the brunette beauty from the Devil Wears Prada, stunned everyone with an old vintage glamour look in a full length sequinned dress offset with a 1944 Van Cleef & Arpels Ludo Hexagone ring, a piece from the Private Collection.
That utterly gorgeous Bond girl, Jinx, Halle Berry, sported wrists full of Harry Winston Bracelets, elaborate twists of diamonds that sparkled beautifully. Halle wore a simple black bustier dress with a flowing skirt, the perfect foil for all of those gorgeous diamonds.
Long flowing gowns and real Hollywood glamour were the styles right on trend and most seen making their way down the red carpet. Most of the A lister stars borrow jewellery pieces from the most fashionable jewellers and this year was no exception.
Poor Christina Hendricks, who had borrowed an $850,000 diamond bracelet to wear at the awards, had a Golden Globe Drama when she lost it. One of two bracelets that had been loaned to her by Chopard, slipped off of her wrist and landed on the red carpet. Entering the ballroom, she was seen to ask, ‘Have you seen a diamond bracelet?’ As the other guests were seated, Hendricks, in a red figure hugging gown, hurried out to look for the errant bracelet.
Luckily for her an event worker found it and handed it back. Her heart must have been in her mouth. According to Chopard, Hendricks wore 200 carats of their diamonds. This included a 49 carat emerald and a Marquise cut diamond bracelet, set in platinum, a 124 carat, pear cut and fancy shape diamond bracelet.
